I’m sure most are well aware of this, if not know a better system, But. Untimely demise of my brolly last night see’s me desperate to replace it el rapeedo. Something I intended researching over the dark months ( Closed season )
Desperation see’s choices cut to my local tackle shops stock. Which indecently is very good. Except brollies ! I fancied one of this brolly, bivvy cross things, that's out the window, nothing the like in stock. So back to standard brolly. Now the meat,...

OK, so I like to catch barbel big, medium and small and like to see them in tip-top condition. But what of the fish that are less than perfect and exhibit some sort of defect either caused by injury or growth defect. Fortunately these fish are not common but I was wondering what maybe the causes.
Yesterday, I caught a barbel or around 7lbs with a growth the size of a meatball located where it's eye once was. The other eye was milky but otherwise the fish gave a good account of itself and...

Hi All
This strikes me as really strange. We had the fish in on Loddon, and looking down the river reports for the last four days or so, nothing is being court. Bob on the Avon, reports on the Kennet, Ray on the Loddon, on and on. The odd fish is turning up like Pauls’s. Good fish by the way Paul !
Now there seems no rhyme nor reason for this, the rivers, at least to my mind look perfect. One day, a few days previous Bob had them jumping up the rod. I realise he's a star, but same day...

Hello All,
For all anglers who like to travel lite with a minimum of tackle I can recomend the Mustad magic box.
It's a small robust multi compartment box with enough room to carry a selection of hooks, swivels, beads shot and other bits.
I bought 2 recently and use 1 of them for trips when I just take a rod,net and bait. It keeps all the essentials easily accessible.
Just thought smeone may be after something like this.

Hello! some advice if you will. I am considering switching from mono to braid as a mainline. Is this recommended? I understand that braid cuts through weed preventing snags, is more robust and offers better presentation as it is less elastic and more pliable than mono. On the other hand I am worried about those immovable snags where a snap off is inevitavble and the complications involved in this process. Could you please offer me the pro's and cons before I embark. Cheers Matty.
