I've heard differing opinions on this and various views on oils/breakdown in colder water temperatures
Last year switched from using them around end of November and didn't really try them again as I was catching reasonably well on meat, lobworms and paste. In late February was planning on trying them again but F&M stopped play.

Whilst lurking on Fishing Magic, I read that Ron Clay opened up a thread called, "the barbel police". Predictably, some others came in including the site owner. One even told other to come to this site as there were loads of barbel policemen on this site. Fortunately, Johnty went straight in and put that guy right.

I have never caught a Barbel on the R. Lugg.
Has anyone fished this river and can you estimate the size of the barbel. I am not looking for specimens at this stage. It will be a different way to fish for them,ie. a small river compared to the R.Wye.

I use a Reuben Heaton job. Think it cost around £15, 10 odd years ago.

It does a good job and can be found at most decent tackle shops.

So what do you use in which circumstances.

I have made my life easier.

For trundling I use Krystons Super Nova. It is so flexible and seems to me to be consistantly made to the same high standard.

For everything else I have changed to Krystons Super Mantis. Dropping Snakeskin and Snakebite from the tackle box. Unfortunately, it's not possible to duplicate a forum, this would solve the problem as I could archive every couple of months or so.

The best suggestion I have so far is to move old messages from pages 20-10 into a backup forum. I could then lock that forum so the messages are kept forever!
