River Tees Barbel Record Broken Last Week?

I received information that a barbel weighing 14lbs 4oz was caught on the River Tees on the barbel alley stretch at Blackwell Darlington
Even though the catch cannot stand as a record because it is closed season it provides mouth watering prospect for the fabulous 16th of June.

I am hoping someone will be able to give a little info on this river.

I am booked into the Grove Ferry for a night, they offer fishing on the Stour, is anyone able to give a bit more info, not necesery barbel related although it would be nice, but pretty much anything to give me a few hrs fishing.
Perhaps you know of a better place to stay, as I am on buisness a bivvy is not an option, nice comfy hotel with a bar required.

Hi All
Out for a Walk last night Spotted 2 Barbel with a group of Chub.
Looked a round the 4 to 5 pound mark but some times it hard to tell properly when in the water.
Never fished for them as there is not many in here but will be having a few goes for them in the New Season.

some good looking parts but hard to get to with your gear(long walks down etc).

After seeing some very well taken pictures of well earned barbel on different river sites it has left me wondering. My biggest barbel is 10lb 40z and I don't remember it as a fat fish. Are big barbel getting beer/pellet bellies. We have all seen week in week out pictures in the Mail/Times with over fed Pigs/Carp, I just wonder if we as barbel anglers are sending our favoured species down the same route.

River was at a nice level yesterday at Lindridge, a little coloured but pretty cold. Small amounts of mainly leaf litter were getting on the line but the old stop not tricked prevented any real problems. My pal had one take but lost it in a snag, no harm done, hook retrieved. I was Piking and had just the one, a scraper 10. Reason for the post I left one of my Spikes down there, nice subtle orange rope, I had a look but couldn't find it so I therefore bequeth it to who so ever can remove...

Hi All
I'm new to this forum and haven't commented to date. However, weather this weekend seemed ideal for barbel & decided to try my luck on my local stretch of the Swale on sunday. Fished two short sessions - 7am - 10am - Result 2 chub 5lb 5oz & 4lb 11oz, & 6.30pm - 9.30pm - (same swim) 1 Barbel (4lb15oz & 2 chub (5lb 8oz & 3lb 9oz.).
Good luck to anyone out this week-unfortunately I'll be working.

Just found your site and spent over 90minutes trying to get registered,so,complicated.

I am trying to find out who owns the stretch of river running behind sherbourne church near barford as i have walked along this stretch with my dog and there are some pegs along the way, i was wondering if this fell under the barford book and if so does anyone know how to go about buying one....great site by the way its good to see so many of us enjoying the rivers..
