There isn't a thread on the Sow on the reports, so thought I would start one.

I haven't fished it for barbel yet, intended to during the summer onwards, but the stretches I intended to fish were closed due to F&M, and didn't open again until winter. Since then, it's been chub that have occupied my time.

Interested to see if any others are fishing the river.

Apologies for posting this here and not on the river reports bit, but I need maximum info....

Taking the boss's son fishing on Sunday and pay review time is just around the corner (eek!), so I could do with him catching a fish! Joking aside, he's a lovely lad and mad about fishing so I'd love for him to catch his first barbus.

I'm thinking about taking him on the Pat's (working my around the matchmen) on a T&DFC guest ticket. Has anyone been there recently to tell me how...

With some time off between jobs I took the opportunity to travel up from London to fish the river which introduced me to barbel.

Lower Wharfe tackle shop in Boston Spa advised me that Newton Kyme had been fishing well, so with some anticipation I set off with my old fishing buddy from school days to find that the recommended far bank swims below the Aqueduct were unfishable due to an extra few feet of water and a whole forest load of leaves.

Fished on 29/11/01 at Fishers Green from 12.30 to 4.30pm.

Unusually for me, I fished a second rod with bread flake as although rising due to recent rain there wasn't much colour in the river and I thought the chub might be more obliging than the barbel.

Result - 2 fish to bread flake. 1 chub of about 3lb and a 10lb 1 oz barbel.

Fishers Green is not easy but when you do get a fish theres a good chance it will be a big one.

Fished 21st Nov 8pm to 11.30pm without a single bite. Three others fished and were also fishless. The water was clear and low but the temperature was 10 degrees which made me think I would be in for a pull or two. It would appear that conditions are similar to those on the Kennet - desperate ! Anyway back to the rain dancing.
